SHIRLEY — War Memorial Trustee Vice Chairman Norman Albert told selectmen Monday night that the trustees are collaborating with Leominster Home Depot to form a “Team Depot Crew” to spruce up the town-owned War Memorial Building and are seeking volunteers.

Details were spelled out in a memo from Trustee Chairman Theresa Richards, which Albert read aloud.

“All supplies and labor will be generously donated by the store,” the memo reads in part, but community volunteer helpers are needed for the crew. “It is a cooperative effort.”

Pitching directly to potential crew members, the volunteer to-do list includes preparing walls for painting, moving furniture, painting walls and ceilings, providing or picking up and delivering drinks, snacks or lunch for the workers and general cleanup.

No experience is necessary and service hours can be documented for students or Scouts who sign up for the crew.

The memo concludes with contact information: “Interested parties please reply via email to lodestone45@verizon.net or leave a note in the War Memorial Trustees mailbox at Town Offices. Include name, contact info and your available days/hours. Thank you!”

The weekend project is slated for either Oct. 16-17 or Oct. 23-24, Albert said, promising to let the board know later this week after exact dates are set.
