TAYSA field vandalized for third time
PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

TOWNSEND — For the third time in five weeks, TAYSA President Joseph Simao Jr. reported that vandals struck the league’s fields at Squannacook Meadows on Mason Road, West Townsend.

Field #1 (was) closed for Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League games Saturday, Oct. 4, as a result of this crime.

Simao Jr. notified the Townsend Police of the latest act of vandalism that occurred sometime between 7:30 p.m. Thursday night and 2 p.m. Friday afternoon. TAYSA treasurer Brian Call met with Townsend police officers to assess the damage to both the field and endangered wildlife.

Shepherds Landscaping reviewed the damage, and gave an estimate to repair the spoiled fields.

TAYSA continues to look for solutions to prevent this from happening again, including boulders, gates and timbers.

The Townsend Ashby Youth Soccer Association is a not-for-profit organization run completely by volunteers, encouraging kids ages 4-19 to put away their electronics and participate in organized youth soccer. TAYSA supports both an in-town and travel program, bringing hundreds of kids and families together each season.

If you have any information regarding this crime, please contact the Townsend Police at 978-597-6214.
