BARRE — In a battle of Midland B cross country teams, Groton-Dunstable emerged victorious with freshman Emily Wilson (19:14), her third first-place finish of the season. Emily McAuliffe took third with a time of 19:55. G-D returns to Groton today at 4 p.m., when it hosts Marlboro in its final home meet of the season.

Elisha Bouchard took home fourth-place for the Patriots with a time of 23:44.

NM senior Chris Skelly claimed the top spot completing the home course in 16:14. Chris Alfond, Mike Spooner and Gavin Thomas finished three, four and six to topple the previously unbeaten Rangers. The Patriots improve to 4-1 on the season.

The Panthers defeated Leominster in the program’s first victory inside its new gymnasium. Match scores: 25-14,23-25,25-16. Rebecca Ernst and Jenn McGrath impressed with several long scoring streaks.

Danny Goldstein led the Panthers offense with 12 rushes for 90 yards and turned in a solid defensive day with eight tackles and a fumble recovery. Tyler Mayo added 5 tackles.
