We are seeing white elephants, four of them, as a matter of fact.

No, we are not having the DTs. These are the four surplus properties the town is trying to sell at bargain prices.

Two are sold and there are two more to go. We think there should be a better way for the town to dispose of these properties, such as ripping down these buildings and adding 10 percent for profit to the rip-down price.

This then becomes the asking price. Still a bargain in many cases. Many handicap access problems, asbestos problems, heating unit problems and many other code violations.

It makes perfect sense to start anew, selling basically the land for some enterprising buyer to do something with, rather than trying to sell an inferior product.

Since the town has no real common, we think the Prescott School would make an excellent one. This would not add to the congestion in the center.
