Community is invited to Sept. 2 reception, 5-7 p.m.
DEVENS — With an appreciative nod to the legacy of its location, the Devens SpringHill Suites by Marriott, which opened in 2005 on the site of the historic Fort Devens, is doing more than showcasing its $1 million renovation on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
The hotel is also hosting the last stop of the 26,000-mile, cross-country Wounded Warriors Family Support High Five Tour 2014 that began in California on Memorial Day weekend.
Since May, the Wounded Warriors Family Support red, white and blue 2014 Ford Mustang GT500 has traveled across the U.S. on the High Five Tour 2014, stopping at military bases, veterans’ organizations, community events and more, inviting the public to sign the car with messages of support for our nation’s veterans. The tour’s mission is also to raise $1 million to build “smart homes” for two wounded warriors and their families.
“The military is a big part of our lives in Devens,” said Maura Peeler, regional vice president of operations for True North Hotel Group, a national partner of the tour that also manages the SpringHill Suites and Hilton Garden Inn in Devens. “We are thrilled that the Devens SpringHill Suites’ Grand Re-Opening could coincide with the last stop of the Wounded Warriors Family Support High Five Tour 2014, and are already working to raise money to build homes for the two wounded soldiers and their families. We invite the community to both enjoy our ‘new’ hotel on Sept. 2 and join us as we send the Mustang off in style.”
The 120-room SpringHill Suites, located at 27 Andrews Parkway in Devens, will host a reception and offer tours of its new enhancements that include freshly decorated public spaces and guestrooms, a new salt water pool and an updated business center.
