Additions to Grotonfest

Dr. Linda Blaschke DMD of Pepperell has been added as a sponsor of Grotonfest this year, and The Flying Irish Dancers of Pepperell will be performing. If you would like to sponsor this free event call 617-448-7240.

Host Families Needed

…for a semester or the academic school year. International Foreign Exchange students are 15 to 18 and are from 15 different countries. All speak English, are fully insured medically, bring their own spending money and would attend your local high school. Host families are asked to provide a loving home, meals and emotional support. Single-parent families, retired couples, families with only young children, as well as families with teenagers have all had successful hosting experiences. Make a friendship for a lifetime!

Habitat for Humanity Golf Tournament

Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts invites golfers and sponsors to help fund new houses by participating in our Building Dreams Golf Tournament on Sept. 16 at Shaker Hills Country Club in Harvard. Participants receive a golf shirt, gift bag and meals, and can enter to win contests and great raffle prizes. Mosquito control, Devens

Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project (CMMCP) will be in Devens on Aug. 18, and 25 to investigate resident complaints regarding the mosquito population. Open House scheduled at Applewild at Devens: Registrations are coming in for the new preschool facility for ages 2.9 to 5. An open house will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, 10 a.m. to noon. Meet the staff and tour the new, modern facility at 27 Jackson Road, at the side of the Mount Wachusett Community College building. Clam bake: The Ayer Gun & Sportsmen’s Club will hold its annual clam bake on Saturday, Aug. 16, from noon to 6 p.m.; music will be performed from noon to 7 p.m. The live band, Mumbo Jumbo, will perform from 3-7 p.m. Food choices include lobster, clams, French fries, fried dough and more with fun activities for the kids! Chasing Ice/Extreme Ice Survey: Free film screening: A fascinating film about one photographer’s mission to collect undeniable evidence of climate change to help us understand our world and make informed decisions. Nashua River Watershed Association invites you to a free screening of “Chasing Ice” at 7 p.m., at the NRWA River Resource Center, 592 Main St. in Groton. Wolf Rockers Square Dance Club to hold classes, dances and chicken barbecue: Come join us for dinner at the Mason (N.H.) Old Home Days. Sing Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis: Do you love to sing? At the beginning of each season, Nashoba Valley Chorale holds three open rehearsals. This gives new members a chance to see if we are a good fit. Music may be borrowed at each rehearsal and returned until the next week. Our open rehearsals are Sept. 8, 15 and 22, from 7-9:30 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 461 King St., Littleton. New England Amputee Association to meet: 6-8 p.m., Clinton Hospital. This meeting we have invited the New England representative from Ottoboc Prosthetics. They will speak about all the prosthetic parts that go into the devices they manufacture for the amputee prosthesis. They will also discuss some of the new technologies that are on the horizon. Monty Tech golf tourney: Monty Tech’s 20th annual benefit Golf Tournament will be held at Westminster Country Club. Sponsored by the Monty Tech Foundation, the event will start at 8:30 a.m. with registration. A continental breakfast at 9 a.m. will precede a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Social hour from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. will be followed by a buffet dinner and awards. Golf package fee is $125 per person, or $450 for a foursome, and includes continental breakfast, lunch, attendance gifts, golf cart, and buffet dinner.
