GROTON — Absentee ballots for the Tuesday, Sept. 9, state primary are now available at the Town Clerk’s Office. Monday, Sept. 8, at noon, is the last day and hour to request an absentee ballot. All absentee ballots must be received by the Town Clerk by election day in order to be counted.
The last day for new voters to register for the State Primary is Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 8 p.m.
Voters registered in a party (Republican or Democratic) are eligible to vote in the primary of that party. Unenrolled voters have their choice of party ballot, and must decide this prior to asking for their ballot.
Massachusetts allows voters to vote by absentee ballot if they:
* will be absent from your city or town on election day, and/or
* have a physical disability that prevents your voting at the polling place, and/or
* cannot vote at the polls due to religious beliefs.
Please contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 978-448-1100 or email@example.com if you would like more information. A sample ballot and information on obtaining an absentee ballot are available at www.townofgroton.org.
