Briefs
IMPORTANT REMINDER!
Your current (red) transfer station vehicle sticker will not expire until Dec. 31, 2014. The transfer station sticker will now be valid on the calendar year rather than the town’s fiscal year.
The fee schedule for the 2015 renewal sticker will not change:
$80 for residents under age 60
$50 for residents age 60 and above
$20 for second sticker
$10 for a one-day pass
The calendar 2015 transfer station vehicle sticker will be available for renewal in November and December 2014 at the Public Works office at 25 Brook St. from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please bring in your vehicle registration at renewal time. If you are unable to come to the office, please mail a copy of your registration and the appropriate renewal fee to us at 25 Brook St. (payable to Town of Ayer).
This change will enable the Public Work’s administrative staff to function more efficiently at fiscal year end (June 30) by eliminating the task of selling permits during the months of June and July.
Thank you for your ongoing cooperation while we continue to maintain a facility for Ayer residents to enjoy using.
Free Vacation Bible School
“Weird Animals: Where Jesus’ Love is One-of-a-Kind”
Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church will be hosting “Weird Animals,” a free Vacation Bible School for children age four up to fourth grade graduates. The program will take place at Groton Grange Hall, 80 Champney St., during the mornings of July 7-11.
In the Bible stories each day, we will see Jesus’ love in action as he heals a group of lepers, reaches out to a needy Samaritan woman, washes the disciples’ feet and willingly goes to the cross. We will dramatize these stories each morning when we gather together for our large group sessions.
Following the skit and singing time, we will rotate in small groups through the VBS stations: Crafts, science, small group sharing, games and snacks.
Please visit Shepherd of the Valley’s web-site www.sov-lc.org where you will find the VBS registration form. The registration deadline is June 27.
If you need a registration form mailed to you or for more information, contact Margaret Doyle at 978-772-7095.
Adopt an island
The town of Ayer is once again offering the “Adopt an Island Program” for all publicly owned traffic islands, rotaries and spaces. This is a great opportunity to promote your local business and to help beautify Ayer. If you would like to volunteer to adopt a traffic island or public area in town to help keep Ayer looking beautiful, please contact Chris Hillman at chillman@ayer.ma.us.
All “Adopt an Island” signs must conform to the town of Ayer’s signage bylaws and must be preapproved by the town prior to being placed.
Preference will be given to Ayer businesses and organizations. The town of Ayer reserves the right to remove any signage, items and plantings that pose a public safety risk and/or do not conform to the town’s bylaws.
