TOWNSEND — Three people were injured Tuesday morning in a car accident on Route 119 in Townsend.
A car traveling east on Townsend’s Main Street struck and severed a telephone pole around 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, according to Townsend Police Chief Erving Marshall.
A passenger in the front seat, Jennifer Labbe, of Keene, New Hampshire, was life-flighted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and was listed in stable condition later that morning, Marshall said. Her injuries are considered nonlife-threatening.
The driver, Heather Nowicki, of Billerica, and her five-year old child, who was riding in the back seat, both sustained nonlife threatening injuries. They were transported by Townsend ambulance to Lowell General Hospital.
The crash occurred near 35 Main St. and the intersection of Main Street and Edward Road.
“The roadway had to be shut down for a couple of hours down there,” Marshall said.
The accident is under investigation by the Townsend Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police, Marshall said.
