The sun shines for the Pepperell Garden Club plant sale

The sun shines for the Pepperell Garden Club plant sale
PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

Dressed for rain, the Pepperell Garden Club worked to set up the plant sale Saturday. But as the time approached for the sale to start, the sun emerged to shine down on all the beautiful plants.

Customers as far away as Fitchburg, Ashby and Mason, New Hampshire, filled wheel barrows with plants to decorate their yards.

The Pepperell Garden Club would like to thank everyone who attended the sale. The plant lovers were very patient as they waited for the 8 a.m. start of the sale while the members finished setting up. Their excitement at seeing the lovely choices of flowers and plants made it all worth the while. At least 35 members participated in the extensive preparation.

The Pepperell Garden Club would like to extend its gratitude to the Senior Center, which was generous in allowing the club to use the front lawn, to the media for publicizing the event, and most of all, thanks to the community that came to purchase a large variety of plants.

The plant lovers were able to select herbs under the tent, which was provided by the Pepperell Fire Department.

Proceeds from the plant sale, the only club fundraiser, directly benefit several Pepperell beautification projects, lectures open to the public, student scholarships and a handicap garden program.

The club is open to people from all towns. Members continue to meet throughout the summer “on safari” outings. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month from September to May at the Pepperell Senior Center.

Attend a meeting and bring a friend. Share the excitement and the beauty of gardening.
