DEVENS — Before a single scene is shot, the economic ripple effect of New England Studios has begun.

Businessman Steve Catalano, whose Harvard company, Catalano Companies, owns Dolce’s Wood Grille in Pepperell and 19 Dunkin’ Donuts stores in the region, has closed on the former Hodges Theater from MassDevelopment, and plans to raze the building and erect a state-of-the-art facility for his catering company, Dolce Brands.

The price was reported to be $120,000.

Catalano, who previously told Nashoba Publishing of his plans to buy the theater property, will also provide rental space on the three-acre parcel for additional companies and support for New England Studios, the film and television production facility in Devens.

Dolce Brands will focus on serving the growing Massachusetts film industry. New England Studios has named the company as its preferred caterer.
