PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

LEOMINSTER — Police arrested an Ayer woman Monday on charges she shoplifted for the sixth time, according to Sgt. Andrew Dupuis.

An employee at Macy’s in The Mall at Whitney field tried to stop Dawn M. Wargo, 40, of 121 Littleton Road, Unit 23, Ayer, after she passed the store cash registers without paying for about $200 in women’s clothing and fragrances at about 5:25 p.m. Monday, Dupuis said.

“She had an accomplice with her who attempted to assist her fleeing, got between the store security and her, but she was stopped by a second loss prevention officer,” he said.

Wargo was charged with sixth offense shoplifting by asportation. She was at Leominster District Court to be arraigned Tuesday morning.

The accomplice was given a summons to appear in court at a later time, Dupuis said.
