Infant Storytime ~ Mother Goose on the Loose (no sign-up) – Ages 0 – 2 and up: Mondays & Thursdays at 10:30

Mother Goose on the Loose is an early literacy program that uses rhymes and songs to help pre-reading children get ready for reading. It incorporates music, movement, ritual, repetition, positive reinforcement, developmental tips, nursery rhymes, illustrations, puppets, musical instruments, colored scarves, and book reading into a fun-filled 45 minute session for infants to 2-year-olds and caregivers (older siblings also welcome). Ask to be put on the email list for last minute schedule changes.

Art & Stories for 4’s & 5’s (6 week session begins 11/5 ~ pre-registration required) – Ages 4 & 5+: Tuesdays at 2:00

This 30 to 45 minute program, appropriate for children ages 4 to 7, begins with a few longer picturebook stories, then ends with a process art project that encourages preschoolers to explore art materials in an open-ended, creative manner. Some weeks we’ll also have storytelling with the library’s puppets or feltboard stories – stories told with felt pieces! Registration for the next 6 week session begins on 10/22; that 6 week session begins on 11/5 and runs through 12/17. Pre-registration required: Limit of 12 children.

Children’s Programs

Lego Club – Ages 5 & up: Saturday, October 26 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM

Come have fun building Lego creations with other Harvard Lego fans! Parents are encouraged to join in the fun & assist with supervision. Wednesday sessions will be supervised by a teen volunteer. Please see the Children’s Librarian for more information and to pre-register.

Steve Blunt ~ Music & Movement for Young Children – All Ages: Tuesday, October 29 at 10:30 AM

Steve Blunt is a part-time music teacher, part-time singer/storyteller whose job is more full-time fun than most grown-ups are allowed to have. He has released four CDs of (mostly) funny songs for kids and families, including There’s a Vampire at My Door – Silly, Spooky Musical Fun and the Parents’ Choice approved Outta School! and Hang On, Henry! This will be a family program for patrons of all ages, featuring mostly humorous original compositions and traditional American & multicultural selections and some silly, spooky tunes for Halloween! Please pre-register.

This program is sponsored by the Rollstone Charitable Foundation; out of town registrants may pre-register at any time.

Family Movie Night! Movie is Rated PG – All Ages: Friday, November 1 at 6:30 PM

We can’t tell you the title of the movie here, but here are some clues about this recent animated film: before these two monsters worked together at a scream factory, they went to college together. Popcorn and water will be served. Please pre-register, so we know how much popcorn to buy!

The Teen Book Groups meet on one Tuesday a month; refreshments are served. Book group members should read all of the book prior to the group meeting. Sign up for the book group, and we will request for you a copy of the book we will be discussing. New members are always welcome ~ please pre-register.

Adult Programs

The Brown Bag Book Club is held the third Wednesday of every month at noon. Drop-ins are welcome! The next meeting will be held on October 16th to discuss: “Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker” by Jennifer Chiaverini.

Harvard Great Books Discussion Group

Great Books meets in the Conference Room monthly on Thursday night at 7 pm. Hope to see you then: November 21; December 19; January 23; February 27; March 27; April 24; May 22.
