Pumpkin Party today at the VNS Patch

The Village Nursery School invites you and your toddler to take a break from the cooling weather and join us at our VNS Pumpkin Patch for a morning of play, art and refreshments on Friday, Oct. 25, from 10-11:30 a.m. at our school located at 40 Poor Farm Road, Harvard.

At this playful annual event, led by one of our talented teachers, children can select a pumpkin from our pumpkin patch, use a range of art materials to decorate a pumpkin for Halloween and enjoy exploring one of our large, open rooms with a variety of activity centers and our playground area.

There is no cost and feel free to bring a friend. To attend, RSVP by Oct. 23, to 978-456-3993 or info@villagenurseryschool.org. www.villagenurseryschool.org

Garden Club meets Oct. 28

The Garden Club of Harvard will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 28.

The guest speaker will be Andi Ross, a master gardener and creative landscape designer who studied at the Harvard University Landscape Institute.

Andi believes that gardens filled with flowering shrubs can provide as much drama as a perennial garden — with much less work. Her presentation will feature information on plant selection, bloom times and maintenance.

The meeting will begin at 11:15 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish/St. Theresa’s Church and is open to the public.

Lunch and a business meeting will precede the speaker. New members are welcome.

Soap-making at Harvard Woman’s Club Nov. 4

Kim Houston, who began soap-making with her children in 2010, has developed her own business selling her soap creations at the Harvard General Store, Fruitlands and the Harvard Farmers Market. Her soaps are infused with varieties of botanicals, herbs and scents. Come to learn about soap-making and enjoy the fragrances of Kim’s soaps!

The program will begin at 12:15 p.m. (following lunch at 11:30 a.m.) and will be held at Holy Trinity Parish, 15 Still River Road, Harvard. All are welcome!
