Applicants sought to serve on Commonwealth Virtual School

TOWNSEND — On Aug. 16, the North Middlesex Regional School District submitted a letter of intent to open a Commonwealth Virtual School within our geographical location. The proposed program would be governed and directed by a Board of Trustees selected by the Superintendent of Schools.

As part of this process, we are looking for individuals interested in serving as board members to help administer and facilitate the application as founding members. Prior to submittal of an application to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the North Middlesex School Committee will need to approve the application and continuance of the process.

If awarded a certificate by the Board of Education to open a Commonwealth Virtual School in North Middlesex, the overall responsibility of the board of trustees would be to oversee operations and governance of the school.

In particular, we are looking for individuals with expertise in the following areas, including but not limited to: technology, education, finance, business, law and government.

Anyone interested in serving in this school governance capacity, please email or send a Statement of Interest and resume to the Superintendent of Schools at 45 Main Street, Pepperell Ma 01463 or no later than noon on Friday, Oct. 04.
