FITCHBURG — Nationally recognized childhood education expert Diane E. Levin will discuss what parents and teachers can do about children’s exposure to pretend and real world violence on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School. The event takes place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Stratos G. Dukakis Performing Arts Center, 1050 Westminster St..
“Children growing up today are exposed to enormous amounts of violence — entertainment media and news violence they see on screens, violent toys and play with violence, and violence they experience directly in their own lives,” Levin said. “How does this violence affect their development, learning and behavior? What can families, schools and the wider community do to reduce the violence in children’s lives, help them deal with what gets in, counteract the harm, and promote peace and non-violence?”
Levin is a professor of early childhood education at Wheelock College in Boston. Please RSVP to Noreen Alves at 978-602-8657; leave a message with your name and number of attendees.
