PEPPERELL — The beautiful photography of Mauricio R. Puente will be on exhibit at the Lawrence Library Art Gallery from Saturday, Sept. 7, through Oct. 5.
Meet the artist at the opening reception on Saturday, Sept. 7, from noon to 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be served, sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Mauricio’s interest in photography started when he was very young. In the early 1960s, he used a 4-inch-by-5-inch film format Linhof camera to photograph motorcycle races. He learned dark room techniques from his father, the prominent Salvadoran painter Mauricio Puente Sr., and for many years, his kitchen pantry served as a dark room.
Mauricio joined the digital-era seven years ago and has since concentrated on nature and sports photography. Now retired and residing in Pepperell, his focus has been to document the beautiful local waterways, notably the Nashua River.
