GROTON — The Groton Greenway Committee is hosting a dedication ceremony for the newly installed Fitch’s Bridge on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m.
Speakers will include state Sen. Eileen Donoghue, state Rep. Sheila Harrington, Selectman Peter Cunningham, Town Manager Mark Haddad, David Manugian and Marion Stoddart.
Music will be provided by John Wiesner including members of the Pebbled Bottom River Kids. Light refreshments will be served.
It would be wonderful if you were able to carpool or walk/bike to the event. If driving, please park on Wallace Road, facing out; there will be limited handicapped-accessible parking on Pepperell Road and on Fitch’s Bridge Road.
If hiking or biking to the event, you may wish to join members of the Groton Trails Committee on one of two guided tours — a guided hike from the Hayes Woods Trailhead on Maple Street through the Johnston Parcel to the newly constructed Fitch’s Bridge, or a guided bike tour from Groton Senior Center following Spencer Circle Road and the trail from Hill Street to Fitch’s Bridge.
Both the hike and the bike are family-friendly and will take about a half hour on easy forested terrain. Both guided trips will start promptly at noon.
