PEPPERELL — In a meeting held Wednesday, the Board of Selectmen upheld an action by Council on Aging Director Marcia Zaniboni to fire the kitchen supervisor at the Senior Center.

The board made clear that they were agreeing with the process Zaniboni followed, not the reason for the action.

The selectmen’s meeting room was packed with seniors unhappy with Zaniboni’s move. When seniors asked the reason for the termination, the selectmen told them that the supervisor had not followed instructions given to her by Zaniboni.

Though the group continued to protest, they were told by selectmen that if they are unhappy with occurrences at the Senior Center, they need to take it up with the Council on Aging first.

Their intent to do just that was made very clear.
