TOWNSEND — Police are investigating what caused a motor vehicle to hit a utility pole on South Harbor Road on Saturday afternoon.

The accident sent both the driver and a passenger to HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster with minor injuries.

The accident happened about 2:15 p.m., near 72 South Harbor Road, according to police.

The 1999 Lincoln Town Car was traveling south at the time of the accident. No other vehicles were involved.

Police continue to probe the cause of the crash. The identity of the driver and passenger were not released.
