Family FUN Day

The Ayer Shirley Early Childhood Council is hosting a FREE “Family FUN Day” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will be hosting this event in the cafeteria of the Page Hilltop Elementary School (115 Washington St., Ayer). Early childhood activities will be set up by area early childhood educators. We will have a special visit from the New England Aquarium Tide Pool from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as well as a special presentation by Pumpernickel Puppet Theater at 1 p.m. and a magic show at 11:30 a.m. This event is specifically set up for children from birth to age 6. SUNDAY, MAY 12

Final all-you-can-eat breakfast of the season: The Ayer Gun and Sportsman’s club has a few exciting events lined up in the coming weeks. On May, 12 the club will be hosting their final all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet of the season. Breakfast will be served between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. The event is open to the public, and the cost is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and children 10-and-under: $4. Mothers, leave the cash at home. Moms eat free.

MONDAY, MAY 13

Devens Committee meeting

7-8:30 p.m., Conf. Room 1, 33 Andrews Parkway, Devens. Public is welcome to attend. Go to DevensCommittee.org for prior meeting minutes.

THURSDAY, MAY 16

Veterans Fishing Derby: The derby starts at 7 a.m. and it all wraps up at 3 p.m. The top three anglers will be awarded prizes and trophies. There is no entry fee for veterans. Bring your appetite, breakfast and lunch will be served.

SATURDAY, MAY 18

Indoor yard sale, bake sale and luncheon

This event will feature household items, clothing, toys, baby items, books, homemade baked goods and more from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Federated Church of Ayer, 21 Washington St., Ayer. Luncheon will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Menu: Hamburger, cheeseburger or hot dog, chips, pickles, soda or water.

Rib Fest: Are you a fan of slow smoked BBQ pork ribs, cornbread and baked beans? The Ayer Gun and Sportsman’s club is hosting an All-you-can-eat Ribfest on Saturday, May 18,


– starting at 5 p.m. Tickets for the event are just $10, and availability is limited.

Well adult clinics

Nashoba Associated Boards of Health, in conjunction with the Ayer Board of Health, announces that a Well Adult Clinic will be held free of charge for the general public:

Friday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Senior Center, 18 Pond St., Ayer. No appointment is necessary.

Friday, May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 at the Town Nurses office, 51 Cambridge St., Ayer, by appointment only.

Drop in for blood sugar, blood pressure, pulse screening and diet teaching.

Historical Society meets

Ayer Historical Society meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 1 Main St. The Historical Society is in the foundation process and welcomes new visitors, members and fresh ideas. Please join us in preserving Ayer history and fundraising for the society.
