If you were the able to attend Art in Bloom at the Lawrence Library from April 18-21, you were treated to a refreshing spring experience.
The Pepperell Garden Club partnered again this year with the Friends of the Lawrence Library to hold its second annual Art in Bloom at the gallery of the Lawrence Library.
This year, most of the artwork selected by the groups of floral arrangers from the Pepperell Garden Club was from local artists who displayed pieces in the gallery over the past year. The selected artwork inspired the garden club teams to create floral arrangements to accompany and complement the art pieces.
Each group of floral designers chooses the art, conceptualizes an idea for an arrangement, finds the right container, and selects interesting flowers to make the intended visual impact. Participating in Art in Bloom propelled some of the dirt-digging Garden Club members into a finer arranging mode. The members participated in workshops given by award-winning floral artist Thelma Shoneman, who took a blue ribbon at the recent 2013 Boston Flower Show.
Friends of Lawrence Library held a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, to kick off the viewing of the arrangements. Light refreshments were served. All enjoyed this splendid spring celebration of fresh floral arrangements and fine arts. Art in Bloom was also available to the public during library hours. If you missed this year’s exhibit, mark your calendar for next year’s annual event.
