Q: Why do you come to the library?
A: I love that our library offers everything a library is supposed to, and so much more … The latest and greatest in books, music and other media is always available. I love that it has great music shows, and many other wonderful programs for all ages and interests. Last, but not least, the library staff are always ready to help with a smile!
Q: What do you geek?
A: I geek live music!
The Lawrence Library also geeks live music! In fact, we have a live music performance every month. Our next performance will feature Hayley Sabella accompanied by Eva Walsh and will be held on Saturday, May 18, at 7 p.m. We also have a monthly open mic night on the second Friday of every month, from 7 to 10 p.m. If you are a musician yourself, you are invited to perform, but you don’t have to; everyone is welcome to drop by and enjoy a cup of coffee and listen. The library also has a wide selection of CDs and DVDs of concert performances, with music ranging from Vladimir Horowitz’s classical concert at Carnegie Hall to “Pearl Jam Live.” You can also find biographies of famous musicians and instructional books and DVDs if you would like to learn to play an instrument.
The library can help everyone explore the things they geek. For information, or if you are interested in being the Geek of the Week, stop by the Lawrence Library.
