G-D Track and Field takes fourth in District-E qualifier

SHREWSBURY — Last Saturday the Groton-Dunstable girls’ track and field team placed fourth at the 40th annual Dick Mulligan District E qualifier meet at Shrewsbury High School. The Lady Crusaders started the day with a fourth-place finish in the 4×400 meter relay by the quad of Emily Gath, Annie Gold, Briana Bozkurt and Dana Robes, with a time of 52.7 seconds.

Delaney Coveno, Robes, Bozkurt and Gold galloped to a third-place finish in the 4×200 with their combined time of 1:53.2. The Lady Crusaders picked up two points in the 4×800 relay with a 10:38.2 finish by BHogue 4/29/13 first name? Considine, Sammy Ferraro, Emily McAuliffe and Bethany Fordham. Considine, Ferraro, McAuliffe and Fordham all competed in the 8-4-12 1800 relay and picked up a third-place finish with their time of 13:58.12.

Groton-Dunstable finished fourth in the high jump relay as Sarah Rasmussen, Danielle Porter and Breanne Happell combined for a height of 12-6 inches. In the shot put, the group of Robes, Rasmussen and Rachel McCarron picked up second place with their combined distance of 83-1/4 inches. McCarron anchored a discus trio with Sarah Morenz and Lydia Butlerto and earned a top finish with their combined distance of 213-7 inches.

In the javelin throw, the Lady Crusaders placed third with a distance of 233-7 inches by Sarah Georges, Katie Wogan and Taylor White. Algonquin, Wachusett, and Shrewsbury rounded out the top three.
