TOWNSEND — Colin McNabb easily won an open seat on the Board of Selectmen on Tuesday, according to unofficial results.
McNabb garnered 639 votes, defeating Carolyn Smart with 406 and David Funaiole with 244. Selectman Nicholas Thalheimer did not run for re-election.
“Thank you to all my supporters and thank you to the other candidates for running a clean race,” McNabb said.
McNabb, the director of home health care and outreach coordinator at McNabb Pharmacy in Townsend, serves on the Capital Planning and Finance Committees. Smart, the billing clerk for the Townsend Water Department, serves on those two committees and is a former assistant to the town administrator. Funaiole served a one-year term as selectman and on other town boards. He is the central office technician at FairPoint Communications in Manchester, N.H.
In the race for three-year position as recreation commissioner, Jennifer Ann McLaughlin won with 506, defeating David Schuttler with 415.
The three-year veteran’s seat on the Trustees of Soldier’s Memorials was won by Walter F. Mann Jr., who bested Edward Snapp 776-272.
Townsend saw a light voter turnout during the day for a combined local election and special state primaries.
Five seats on other boards had no candidates. There were numerous write-in votes, and those winners were not available at press time.
