There will be entertainment to please all as we celebrate Earth Day on the Townsend Common, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rain date is April 28 from noon to 5 p.m.
The gazebo lineup is as follows:
10 to 10:30 a.m. — Howard Brink, vocalist with guitar
10:30 to 11 a.m. –Deborahanne Mayer, vocalist
11 to 11:30 a.m. — Michael Longrider and Lester Greenwood, flutists
11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. — Bindy Johnson, Sound Bath Singing Bowls
12:20 to 12:30 p.m. — Judy Lorimer, African dance
12:30 to 1:15 p.m. — Jessica Thaxter, “Circus in the Stars” hula hooping
1:15 to 1:45 p.m. — Mike Meehan, vocalist with acoustic guitar
1:45 to 2:15 p.m. — Tim Manigan, vocalist
2:15 to 3 p.m. — United Native American Drumming Group drum circle

Bugworks will have a live display from 1 to 3 p.m. They are sponsored by the Amanda Dwight Entertainment Fund and the Townsend Cultural Council.
Booth space (12 feet by 12 feet) is $25 for for-profit groups and free for nonprofit groups. There are 50 confirmed for-profit and nonprofit groups. Textile drive
The North Middlesex School District and the Townsend Recycling Committee are offering a friendly competition between classes.
Bring your textile donations to the Townsend Common parking lot between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. during Earth Day on the Common in a plastic bag and give to the volunteer the name of your Townsend elementary school teacher or grade for middle/high school.
All types of clothing will be accepted — footwear and household textiles plus handbags and stuffed animals, torn, stained clothing/bedding/curtains, old shoes and sneakers/flip flops/work boots, as long as they are dry and do not smell.
Items will be sorted and reused or recycled by baystatetextiles.com. Money made will be given to TEO, Townsend recycling and for the prizes.
Electronics drive
There will also be an electronics drive on the Common, also from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Household items like stoves, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers and water heaters can be recycled for $15. For an additional $15 per piece, we will pick up your item. Must be on driveway, ready to be loaded. Call 978-597-8118 for pickup.
Prices for other items are: televisions under 27 inches, $16; TVs over 27 inches, $25; projection TVs, $27; wood console TVs, $25; microwaves, $10; barbecue grills (no propane tanks), $5; metal desks, $5; metal poles (less than 8 feet long), $2; toasters, $1; irons, $1; hair dryers, $1; laptops, $5; computer monitors, $10; CPU boxes, $5; keyboards, $2; printers, $2; fax/copy machines, $2; speakers, $2 per pair; video systems, $2; camera/video/audio equipment, $3 each; cellphones, plugs, mice, wires, drives, cards, servers, video games, metal pots, free.
The drive will benefit Project Graduation.
