HUDSON — Marjorie Marcinkewicz, accompanied by 10 other Shirley Democrats, attended the Middlesex & Worcester Democratic Coalition Breakfast held at the Portuguese Club on Sunday, April 14.

There they enjoyed a delicious breakfast and cheered on their friend Marcinkewicz as she was awarded the Distinguished Democrat Award for Shirley from state Sen. James Eldridge. Accompanying Marcinkewicz to the event from Shirley were Kendra Kratkewicz, Dave and Dorry Swain, John and Charline Oelfke, Bonnie Jo and Leo Collins, Joyce Reischutz, Mary Ellen Owen and Betty Keddy.

The award was given to Marcinkewicz for her volunteer service. For 20 years (from 1992 to 2012), Margie volunteered 30 hours a week in the town clerk’s office of Shirley. Among the many ways she helped the town staff and residents, Margie annually prepared the town census. She is also a tireless election worker, has served on the Town Cemetery Committee, and has been involved with the Friendship Fund. A longtime member of the Shirley Democratic Town Committee (20 years), Margie is the best kind of volunteer: always ready with ideas, support, and a cheery greeting.
