This week is National Library Week, and the Lawrence Library is officially kicking off the Geek the Library Campaign! We are asking you to think about what you are passionate about and get excited by — what you geek. Each week, we will be showcasing someone from the community and talking about what they geek and how the library can support that. — Lawrence Library
Occupation: Library Mascot
What do you love about your library?: Everyone is so friendly here! I love being at the Lawrence Library. I meet new people every day, and everybody pets me and gives me lots of love. I also enjoy the art gallery; sometimes I sneak up there when the building is closed and look at all the artwork.
What do you geek?: I geek dress-up! I have a costume for every occasion.
Lawrence Library has lots of books about dressing up and costumes! Check out Dewey Decimal number 391 for books about costumes in general, and 646.4 for books about sewing your own costumes.
We also have books about turning old clothing new again, such as “Generation T: 108 Ways to Transform a T-shirt” by Megan Nicolay. This summer, Lucky can join us as we transform old T-shirts into new styles, as well attending our tie-dyeing party. Also, in October, the library has lots of Halloween costumes for sale, which helps support the Friends of Pepperell Recreation.
The library can help everyone explore the things they geek. For information, or if you are interested in being the Geek of the Week, stop by Lawrence Library.
