The recipient of this year’s ride is Townsend fire-EMS. Money raised will go towards the purchase of multi-gas detectors as part of the firefighter’s on-scene gear. The ride is planned for Sunday, May 19. Registration is at 9 a.m. at Harbor Autobody in Townsend; kickstands up at 10 a.m. The 80-plus mile ride departs Townsend for southern New Hampshire, then ends back in Townsend at Bailey’s Bar and Grille. The rain date is June 2. The ride concludes with food, drink, raffles and live music. It’s a community event for both riders and nonriders alike.

The ride originated in 2010 as a “thank you.” The support was overwhelming, and we raised a lot of money that went to a great cause.

Looking ahead, the motorcycle ride will continue to give back to organizations and groups that donate their time and resources to aid others in the community and/or fund community projects. Each year, a different organization will be selected as a recipient of the ride.

There are many good rides and causes out there. Thank you for supporting this one. Hope to see you on the ride.
