GROTON — On a recent Wednesday, a group gathered at the Groton Senior Center to hear author Richard Meibers talk about his new novel, “Falling off the wind.” The book explores the world of a relatively unknown subculture, that of the “Boat Bums,” those who have left the larger society to live on sailboats in places like the Caribbean and the South Pacific. Pictured is Martha Brown, as her copy of “Falling off the wind” is signed by Meibers.
