FITCHBURG-Bromfield fell victim to an Austin Wood squeeze play in the bottom of the seventh, as they dropped their season opener 2-1 at St. Bernard’s. The Trojans scattered three hits, and surrendered five while committing 0 errors.

Bernardian hurler Sean Maki went the distance for a complete game. Bromfield starter Mike Jackovitz went four-plus strong innings, and Nick George came on in the fourth, and pitched three innings of solid relief.

Jackovitz, George and John Schmidt all turned in hits for Bromfield.
