FRIDAY, MARCH 8
Big game: The schoolhouse tradition of students versus teachers is once again making an appearance at Hawthorne Brook Middle School — not in the classrooms, of course, but on the basketball courts. The annual student/faculty basketball game, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the high school gym, has been the parent-teacher organization’s biggest fundraiser for years, said PTO President Heidi Stadler.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13
“Gardening for the Spirit”: Pepperell garden Club, Pepperell Senior Center on Nashua Road at 6:45 p.m. Be inspired to create a new space in your garden or reinvent an older space that will bring joy to your soul. Using handouts and slides, the program will help you take a look at different types of gardens and what helps to create or define them. Learn simple tips and tricks that will help you plant a garden designed especially to delight you and will connect your garden to your five senses. Guest fee is $5 or $2 for seniors. For information call Diane at 978-433-5751.
SATURDAY, MARCH 16
Day of ballet: Enjoy a perfect day of ballet fun for the budding dancers and story lovers in your family at 11 a.m. when ballerinas from Harvard Academy of Dance take center stage at the Lawrence Library, 15 Main St. Author David Ira Rottenberg will read his picture book, “Gwendolyn, the Graceful Pig,” while the dancers perform the story. As an added treat, a mini-movement lesson will be offered to the children in the audience after the performance and Rottenberg will sign copies of his book. “Gwendolyn, the Graceful Pig” tells the tale of Gwendolyn and Omar, two best friends who have big dreams. Gwendolyn longs to dance ballet and Omar wants to join the football team. There is just one problem — they are both pigs!
