GROTON — A 20-year-old man from Georgia died early Thursday morning after he became pinned underneath the car that he was trying to push out of his friend’s driveway.
Police officers were dispatched to Island Road about 3:15 a.m. for a single-car accident, according to the Groton Police Department. The officers found Vincent McCullough of Port Wentworth, Ga., pinned under a black Kia sedan. Crews from the Groton and Westford fire departments extricated McCullough, who was then transported to the Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer. He died at the hospital due to his injuries.
The incident has been ruled an accident, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. McCullough was visiting his friend in Groton and the two were trying to get a car that was stuck in the snow out of the driveway. At some point, the victim was pinned underneath the vehicle.
