HARVARD — Everyone is invited to hear Dr. Michael Volmar, curator at Fruitlands Museum, present an overview of the history of the Harvard Shaker village, based on the journals and artifacts in the Fruitlands collection at the Historical Society’s annual meeting at 215 Still River Road.
Some of the notable events and people in the village will be presented and discussed, in particular Alfred Collier and Grove Blanchard, their relationship, and the desk Alfred Collier made for Elder Grove in 1861. The desk was recently acquired by Fruitlands.
The annual meeting starts at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, with a short business meeting followed by the talk by Dr. Michael Volmar at about 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend. There will be refreshments after the meeting.
Bring your holiday gift list and give a gift of history — Merrifield prints of old Shaker Village; “The Harvard Album;” Harvard Common notecards; 1831 Harvard Map; and more.
