A nomination for Hawthorne Brook Middle School has been submitted for a funding award up to $50,000 from Clorox’s Power A Bright Future grant program to upgrade the auditorium. But we need everyone’s help. The nomination with the highest number of votes will receive the $50,000 grand prize and the top vote getters in each category — Play, Create and Explore — will receive $25,000.
This grant would allow us to repair and upgrade the sound, lighting, connectivity and technology in our auditorium to enhance learning for our students in all areas of our fine arts program during and after school. In addition, it would provide a 21st-century learning environment for all content areas in the school, a space for the community to gather to experience the arts, Girls and Boy Scouts, Destination Imagination (a creative problem-solving organization for youth and adults), and long-distance learning.
We need to have everyone (13 or older) to register and vote once a day until Dec. 19.
Once you are set up, it is easy to vote each day. You can vote online, via text or facebook.
Visit www.PowerABrightFuture.com and select “Register” from the top right corner of the homepage. After registration is complete, click “Vote Now,” which is located in the yellow bar under the remaining time left to vote counter. In the “Location Search” dialogue box type Townsend and click the magnifying glass. HBMS nomination will appear, then select Vote for This to confirm your vote.
Be sure to vote online each day by logging in and following the same voting procedure.
