HOLLISTON — Mark L. Wetzel of Reading has been re-elected Massachusetts state director of the New England Water Works Association, the region’s largest and oldest not-for-profit organization of water works professionals.

Wetzel is superintendent of the Ayer Department of Public Works.

Previously, he was a senior project manager in the water practice group at Wright-Pierce, a civil and environmental consulting engineering firm based in Andover.

Wetzel received a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Vermont.

He is a registered professional engineer in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

A member of the association for 29 years, Wetzel is director of the standards council, chair of the tendon-type prestressed concrete tanks committee, past chair of the information technology committee, and a past member of the filtration committee.

He is also a member of the tendon-prestressed concrete water tanks committee of the American Water Works Association.
