The U.S. Army Devens BRAC Environmental Office will be conducting a public site tour on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m. to view environmental cleanup activities being performed by the Army at the former Fort Devens Superfund sites known as Shepley’s Hill Landfill and the former Railroad Roundhouse both located along Plow Shop Pond in Ayer.
The SHL cleanup action involves the construction of a subsurface barrier wall to mitigate the discharge of arsenic-in-groundwater from the Army landfill to PSP.
The Railroad Roundhouse cleanup action involves the removal and disposal of contaminated sediment from PSP within the shoreline areaadjacent to the former roundhouse.
Members of the public are invited to attend the site tour to gain an additional perspective on environmental remediation work at Devens. If you are interested in attending please arrive at the Devens DPW office parking lot located at 99 Buena Vista St. Devens at 2 p.m.
