TOWNSEND — The OverDrive Digital Bookmobile will visit the Townsend Public Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

OverDrive’s Digital Bookmobile is a 75-foot-long tractor trailer combination that travels North America as a community outreach tool libraries may use to promote their downloadable audiobooks, ebooks and videos. It is equipped with Internet-connected computers, high-definition monitors and a variety of portable devices. Interactive computer stations give patrons the opportunity to test the digital books collection.

The Bookmobile is divided into a number of areas, each of which highlights a specific component of the host library’s digital collection. Among them are Audiobook Alley, The E-book Experience, and a Video Lounge. There also is a Gadget Gallery, where patrons can experience a variety of portable devices that can be used with OverDrive downloads.

The Digital Bookmobile is staffed by OverDrive employees, who give tours of the vehicle and explain the products available to patrons. Local library staff are available to answer questions specific to their library. For information go to www.digitalbookmobile.com.
