Again this year, after many hours of preparation, great local business and citizen financial sponsorship and an evening that saw record crowds in attendance, the Ayer July 4th Committee would like to say thank you to all that helped us make this year’s event another success.

Braving record high temperatures and a threat of rain, the Fresh Ayer Celebration Committee dazzled those in attendance with one of the most exhilarating fireworks performances to date and with the addition of some great music, new rides and activities for kids and teens and one of the largest diverse group of vendors ever assembled. The evening came to fruition without a hitch.

As in past years, this event could not happen without the combined efforts and resources of many of Ayer’s Departments all of which the Committee thanks: Police Chief Murray and his Committee designee Sgt. Austin Cote, who put extensive time into coordinating the traffic and public safety of the event. Fire Chief Robert Pedrazzi and his Department for everything related to the fireworks and crowd safety and the Ayer DPW for their pre and post day assistance with tents, trash and field logistics. A special thanks to new DPW Director, Mark Wetzel, who himself helped to cleanup the field with his men early Sunday morning and finally to Robert Pontbriand, Town Administrator and Ms. Janet Lewis whose communication and coordination of the Committees activities with that of the BOS, the press and the community was indispensible to the visibility and accomplishment of all involved.

The time, effort and support donated by this year’s committee: Jim Fay, Marion Smith, Ruth Rhonemus, Tara Lyons, Maureen Parlon, Allan Wilson, Stephanie Gintner and Cindy Knox, our IT savior, all helped to make my responsibilities easier as first time Ayer Committee Chairman and again guaranteed the success of this yearly event.

Generous sponsorship also came from many businesses located in Ayer, Shirley and Littleton and to all of them the heartfelt gratitude of the Committee and the citizens of Ayer for their support to help us with the finances of this event.

Finally, to the people and for the reasons listed above as Chairman of Ayer’s 2012 July 4th Celebration, let me say a very special “thank you” to all. Ayer is a great Town with many attributes to enjoy all year long, we hope you’ll come and enjoy them.
