Last week, on one of the hottest days of the year so far, the Shirley Senior Center held it’s monthly lunch, this time it was a barbecue.

More than 80 seniors, eating inside the slightly air-conditioned Senior Center, enjoyed the barbecue pork, hamburgers, sausage, potato and pasta salad and desserts for $3.

The menu was possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of state Rep. Jen Benson and state Sen. Jamie Eldridge. Eldridge stopped by to enjoy the feast while Benson was called to Boston to work.

Facing the hot grill and the hot weather were chefs Frank Eisilionis, Bob Perry, Jon Pender, Don Parker and Mike Devlin. Inside on the grill was Tom Heraty and Marcia Sullivan. Kay Tohline’s kitchen crew were wonderful, cooking and getting things set up while Elaine Qunity’s team served the food, set up the tables and more importantly help clean up afterwards.

Note: No senior lunch in July. See you Aug. 15.
