We are writing you today to tell you about an upcoming event that I am participating in that is both very important and very exciting to us. NAMIWalks, the signature walkathon event of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is being held in Boston at Artesani Park, Brighton (Boston) on May 12.
This year, we have decided to walk alongside my co-workers at Comfort Home Care, who have created their own NAMI Walk team for this event. Adam and his fellow nurses visit with mentally-ill clients each and every day, and have witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of these illnesses on those affected, their families and their communities. As a result, we are proud to walk with Comfort Home Care’s NAMIWalk team, and to raise money and awareness for an organization that does so much for this population.
We would like to ask you to come and walk with us or to donate to support our participation in this great event. If you would like to register to walk with us, visit our page at http://www.nami.org/namiwalks12/MAS/comforthomecare. Or if you just want to make a donation to sponsor us, visit http://www.nami.org/walkdonation.cfm?id=210354. Donating online is fast and secure.
NAMI is the largest education, support and advocacy organization that serves the needs of all whose lives are touched by these illnesses. This includes persons with mental illness, their families, friends, employers, the law-enforcement community and policymakers. The NAMI organization is composed of approximately 1,100 local affiliates, 50 state offices and a national office.
The goals of the NAMIWalks program are to fight the stigma that surrounds mental illness, to build awareness of the fact that the mental health system in this country needs to be improved and to raise funds for NAMI so that they can continue their mission.
Thank you in advance for your support.
