PEPPERELL — A class on the basics of bird-watching is coming to the Pepperell Senior on Earth Day.

On Saturday, April 28 Beginning Birding, hosted by Jack Lash, former chief ecologist for DCR, will provide an in-depth review of bird knowledge, watching and other avian hobbies. The event will begin with a walk at 8 a.m. followed by a discussion including some spring ecology slides and the top ten spring destinations for birding.

By focusing on bird identification, family characteristics, bird behavior, optics and field guides, this event is a way to learn about the main aspects of this growing activity.

Lash is an experienced birder and naturalist who has been a member of Mass Audubon for over 20 years.

This program begins at 8 a.m. at the Pepperell Senior Center at 37 Nashua Road, it is supported in part by a grant from the Pepperell Cultural Council. For more information, contact the Pepperell Senior Center at 978-433-0326.
