Have you driven by the Shirley Senior Center this week? The front yard of the building looks terrific.

This is all thanks to a group of hardworking volunteers who spent hours last Thursday raking, weeding and spreading mulch, etc. The group started early and worked right into the rainstorm. All the while, they were leveling the lawn and the edge of the parking area, taking stones off the grass left there by the snow plow and cleaning up the flower beds. When you drive by and see how nice it looks, say a thank you to them.

The crew consisted of Tom and Betty Quigley, Judy Wood, Marie Almy, Judy Joy, Sally Hamel, John and Kay Tohline, John Gordon, Jon Pender, Marcia Sullivan, Tom Heraty, Bev Welton and Ray Gagnon.

Helping indoors by preparing lunch were Nancy Siedliski and Joyce Patton.

A special thanks to PINARD landscaping for a generous donation of material, including all the mulch.

Later this spring we will have another cleanup day to work. The plan will be to get the backyard ready to be used this summer for various activities. Keep a watch out for the cleanup announcement and for the summer activities planned in the backyard, aka Nutting Grove.
