AYER – Town Clerk John Canney reports 673 of Ayer’s 4,433 registered voters partook in Super Tuesday Presidential Primary voting on March 6. There were 531 Republican ballots cast, 140 Democratic ballots, and 2 Green/Rainbow ballots pulled.
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney topped the Republican presidential ballot with 360 votes. Rick Santorum placed second in Ayer (76 votes), Ron Paul placed third (53 votes), and Newt Gingrich placed fourth (31 votes).
Incumbant President Barrack Obama lead the Democratic count for President with 120 votes, while 13 cast “no preference,” 4 opted to write in other names, and 3 ballots were left blank.
