PEPPERELL — Three more candidates have pulled nomination papers with the Town Clerk’s office for the Home Rule Charter Commission.

Selectmen Joseph Sergi, Blueberry Hill Way resident Douglas Adams and Deerfield Drive resident Caroline Ahdab have joined Chris DiSimone and Council on Aging Director Marcia Zaniboni in filing nomination papers with the Town Clerk’s office.

Once established, the Home Rule Charter Commission will draft a charter for Pepperell over the course of 18 months. DiSimone, who sat on the ad-hoc Charter Committee last fall that gathered about 1,200 signatures to make the process possible, said the Commission will be reviewing charters from surrounding towns.

A home-rule charter dictates things such as the number of Selectmen, length of terms for officials, which positions are appointed versus elected and the powers and responsibilities of the Town Administrator.

There are nine open seats to be elected at the April 23 Town Election at Varnum Brook. To file nomination papers, visit the Town Clerk’s office in Town Hall at One Main Street. Monday, March 5 is the last day to submit nomination papers to the Board of Registrars for certification.
