PEPPERELL — The 2012 town election schedule hasbeen announced.

The annual town election will be held on Monday, April 23, from 7 a.m to 8 p.m. at Varnum Brook Gymnasium. Nomination papers may be taken out for the offices open for election. Any registered voter may take out nomination papers, which can be obtained at the town clerk’s office.

Open positions include three-year positions on the Board of Assessors, Board of Health, Board of Public Works, Board of Selectmen, tax collector, tree warden and two positions each on the Board of Library Trustees and the NMRSD School Committee.

Three positions on the Recreation Committee, terms of one, two and three years, are up for election. Five-year terms on both the Housing Authority and Planning Board are open as well.

Nine positions on the Charter Commission are also to be decided after an ad-hoc Charter Committee received signatures to form it. That commission will be looking into the makeup of Pepperell’s town government and decide whether or not to create a town charter.

Monday, March 5, is the last day to submit nomination papers to the Board of Registrars for certification. Monday, March 19, is the last day to file certified papers with the town clerk.

April 3 is the last day to register to vote in the town election.
