AYER — There was collective sadness across Patriot Nation with the team’s loss to the New York Giants Sunday night, 21-17.

There has been much ado in recent years as to whether or not the Super Bowl creates conditions ripe for domestic violence, and minutes after the game concluded Sunday night, officers were sent to a Gardner Lane home to make an assault-and-battery arrest.

Rodney Ford, 52, was arrested at his residence at 10:01 p.m. Ayer Police Lt. Brian Gill said alcohol played a role in the incident “sparked by the Super Bowl outcome.”

The call came in shortly after 10 p.m. Gill said Ford was “angry at the end of the game” and allegedly “slapped and shoved” a family-member into a wall multiple times.
