PEPPERELL — Apple Seeds Preschool held a fundraising night on Monday, Feb. 6.

About 30 families of students and alumni dined at Dolce Wood Fired Italian Grill, which pulled in more than $1,000 during the three-hour event.

The restaurant will be donating a percentage of that to the school. The event was organized by two parents of students, Susan Richards and Leah Lyle, who said that Dolce was great to work with.

“It was a great success, both organizations got a lot of exposure and it was nice to be able to give back to the community,” said Dolce general manager Gina DeFrancesco.

Apple Seeds Preschool owner Donna Bupphaves agreed with the evening’s success and said the money will go to the purchase of a basketball hoop for the play area or meeting mat for students to sit on.

“This was our first fundraiser of this sort and we filled the restaurant,” Bupphaves said. “I’m hoping they will want us annually.

“The children were so fun to watch; they were delighted to see their classmates outside the classroom environment.”

Bupphaves also thanked Richards and Lyle, the volunteers who made the event possible.

“It was really nice to have two businesses in Pepperell getting together for something like this,” Bupphaves said.

During the evening, DeFrancesco said regular customers were getting involved as well, and that she has already received positive feedback.

“Customers enjoyed the event, the service and the food; we are hoping we can have some more of these and I hope others come and enjoy themselves as much as they did,” she said.
