Elections were held at the monthly Council on Aging Board meeting Jan. 10. Bill Roberts is the new Chairman; Lt. David Profit is now the Vice-Chair; and Janet Wesson is Secretary. It was noted that there are two openings on the board. Anyone interested in serving should contact Chris Clish, Senior Center director, for details.
The Well-Adult Clinic, in conjunction with the Townsend Board of Health, will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Senior Center. Come in for a blood pressure check, blood sugar screening (no fasting necessary), or to discuss dietary concerns. All are encouraged to avail themselves of this service. No appointment necessary.
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with us on Feb. 13 at 1 p.m.! There will be a musical program presented by Dawn Kelley and Dick Miller. Refreshments will be served. There is a sign-up sheet for those who can contribute. This program is funded in part by the Townsend Cultural Council which is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and also by the Townsend Council on Aging. There is no charge to attend and the party is open to the public.
After lunch on Feb. 27, at 12:45 p.m., comedian David Shikes of New Hampshire will entertain everyone with his funny stories. There is no charge and the public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served following the program. Come and enjoy a laugh or two!
Volunteers from AARP will be at the Senior Center for assistance in your tax preparation on Tuesday, Feb. 14 and 28 and on March 13 and 27. Please call to schedule your appointment.
Also in Feb. and March, the library will be showing older, classic movies in Meeting Hall A on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. There is no charge and the public is invited to attend.
