Town and state laws require that all dogs be licensed each year, and dog licenses are sold through the Town Clerk’s office. 2012 licenses cost $15 per dog. Any past due licenses for previous years will also need to be paid in order to purchase a current year’s license.

2011 licenses are valid through Dec 31, 2011, and there is a one-month grace period for purchases through Jan 31. On Feb. 1 or after, a $5 late fee applies, in accordance with town bylaw. The late fee does not apply if the dog is new to town less than 1 month or is less than 6 months of age. Dogs licenses in another Massachusetts town that are transferring to Shirley are entitled to a transfer license at no cost.

Dog Licenses may also be purchased in person at the Town Clerk’s office.

Low-cost rabies clinics are held in March and April of each year by the Nashoba Associated Boards of Health in conjunction with local veterinarians. Once the rabies clinic schedule is available, it will be posted here and at the Town Offices.
